The Last of the Bales Boyzians

Memories. Some bitter and some sweet but all in the past. Yep, memories are all we have now. Memories…. Like the time that one of our most laid back roommates let a random asian woman come into our house, assuming because she took her shoes off at the door she must have been Han Man’s friend. And memories were all Han Man had the next day when He came down and confusedly asked if someone had come into his room while he was sleeping because He thought he heard a woman’s voice and vaguely remembered seeing someone at the door. Oh memories….Black Mold with Nathan’s name scrapped in it, floods in the basement soaking piles of the unclaimed belongings of old roommates. Oh and lets not forget the fridge… 4 to 5 guys, some who shopped at Costco and some who had a fetish for empty glass salsa jars, all sharing 2 to 3 feet of crowded refrigerator space. You never knew what you would find in the fridge or who you would find waiting for you behind it when you closed its door…like the one time I found a 5 year black boy in a stained shirt with cheetoos dust on his face asking me if he could play my game. Oh memories.

Well its true memories are all we have now because the last of bales boyz, myself (colin) nathan and our house Dad (Steve) have officially moved out. I’ve lived there for four years and I’m grateful for it.. but as I settle into a new residence I discovering the truth which probably many of you who moved out already knew: we lived like animals… as my mom described it, it was a man cave. My last year was spent in a dark, damp, basement with crickets the size of squirrels. Yep we were a brave bunch and most of you were freaking hoarders too!!!!! But at least some of you had the dignity to put your name on all the crap you left behind…Randy I’ve got your old fashioned oats waiting for you at my new place…everyone else sorry but our neighbors already combed through all your journals, photos, and everything else that the asian lady didn’t steal, cobra didn’t chew, and duke (may he rest in peace) didn’t drool all over as it lay on the curb on our last days as bales boyz. One good thing about living in the ghetto, stuff goes fast on the curb.

Paul’s Pizza Push-ups!

For the past month, there’s been a guy on our couch. His name is Blake, but we’ve come to refer to him affectionately as “the guy on the couch.” Which, as of a week ago, is a moniker of the past for Blake. He has left the nest of our home and moved into the domicile of a guy named Paul.Paul just bought the house and Blake is the first tenant. This past week is the first one in their new home, and they have spent it getting furniture and the like to settle in. I’ve let them use my truck on several occasions for that purpose. Including yesterday…After being humbly denied their aspirations for retro furniture, I met with Blake and Paul at Cici’s for $3 pizza buffet. While at our table, a small band of boys presumed to do 30 pushups by the front cashier, and then the manager handed them cash, in which the boys immediately ran to the arcade in back. This is quite intriguing, we thought. Ten minutes later, a smaller group of boys did the same, and were handed cash afterwards. (does Cici’s give cash for push-ups?) Paul got a kick out of it and began to joke that he should do 50 girl push-ups. We thought he was merely kidding… I wasn’t the only one with my cellphone out to capture this magnificent moment. The manager was eating it up as well. You may have heard towards the end something about Cici’s website. The manager had congratulated Paul because he was going to be on the Cici’s. Keep your eyes peeled…
